How Far Henry the Eighth Pursued New Policies During the...

How Far Henry the Eighth Pursued New Policies During the Period 1509-1514 Henry VIII became king in 1509. His policies were completely different to his fathers’, Henry VII. Henry VII was a wise and calculating man, who would think through his actions before he would take them, he would consider the long term and short term advantages and disadvantages of his actions. However Henry VIII was quite the opposite and he was emotional and took decisions straight away without analyzing them unlike his father. These differences caused Henry VIII to purse new policies and abolish the traditional ones which had been used by his father. When Henry VIII took the throne in 1509, at the age of 17, he made it†¦show more content†¦When Henry VII was on the throne he had been imposing heavy taxes on the people. The people despised taxes and especially hated the two main taxmen, Richard Empson and Edmund Dudley. So Henry VIII tried to gain the popularity and the support of the people by executing Richard Empson and Edmund Dudley. This definitely gave him the short-term popularity he was after, but without tax, this would affect his finances. Henry VIII’s decision to continue the Hundred Years War cost the government a lot. Around  £1.7 million was spent on preparing England and its allies for war. His aim was to seize the French Crown, and make England and himself greater, by means of war. His policy on finance was not like his fathers, he didn’t realise what problems he would face after stopping tax. His ally in the war was his Father-in-law, Ferdinand Aragon and it was decided that Spain and England would go to war against France in 1512. But Henry VIII’s ideas of conquering France did not succeed. Firstly because the Spanish did not turn up to fight, due to the Pyrenees mountains, on the border of Spain and France. The English troops get dysentery due to the water in France as it was contaminated. Even though Henry VIII failed to attack France, this didn’t prevent him from trying again. In 1513, Henry VIII decided to attack France again, this time with the help of Maximilian who was

Analysis Of The Poem Blushing - 1057 Words

Blushing, Chris tried to deny doing anything special, as did Jenny, but neither of their parents would hear of it. Knowing how their parents felt and that what they did do was helping was a relief for Jenny, as well as Chris. Giving their mom and dad one last hug, both turned in early and were soon asleep. Not long after, Roy and Joanne followed the example and after checking on all three of the kids, went to bed themselves. Relief spread throughout their bodies at the knowledge that despite the turmoil going on, Chris and Jenny were doing quite well. For once, all those under the DeSoto’s roof slept peacefully throughout the night. Everyone, with the exception of Johnny, finally woke up on Saturday morning at eight in the morning. After†¦show more content†¦Goodness knows it has help the mood of everyone else in here, she reflected. Serving him his breakfast with a cheerful good morning, all four DeSoto’s were a bit taken when he respond in kind. It took a few seconds and was said hesitantly, but still, it was said. Usually, all they received was a very shy hi or a nod with a blush. As they continued eating, each person tried not to look, but couldn’t help but glance as Johnny slowly, but surely at his breakfast without prompts. When given his meds, his face fell, but again, he took them without question. Finding this unusual, Chris and Jenny looked to their dad for answers. Shrugging his shoulders with his eyes going wide, Roy indicated that he had no idea why Johnny was suddenly fine with accepting the food. There could be a host of reasons why; it could just be a temporary complacency, it could be the anti-depressants were working better, it could be he was just too hungry to care. Deciding that there was too many possibilities and combinations of possibilities, Roy felt it would be best just to observe Johnny casual. That way, if something was changing medically, than hopefully he’d be able to see it and either convince John to go to Rampart or Doctor Early to stop by. â€Å"I was thinking about having a family game day,† Roy said as casually as possible, glancing at Joanne. Seeing Roy’s head tilt towards Johnny, she jumped in, â€Å"I think that’s a great idea. What do you kids think?† Chris nodded, his

Why God Is Forever Faithful - 1931 Words

I believe God is forever faithful. There have had countless times that I have seen the work of God. The first, seeing my alcoholic son find the help to stop drinking and to want to keep striving to be the man, father, and husband that God intended him to be. Another, in 1990, my husband had his colon removed. Three years, twelve surgeries, and almost death later he pulled through. Next is when my children were young and facing important situations or have important questions, I would say an instant prayer for wisdom before answering them. It was amazing to hear what God gave me for a reply. And last, our thirty year old daughter had a reflex door that went between her kidney and bladder that would not shut so she had constant†¦show more content†¦If they are not open to talk of the Lord, I can privately pray for them. I believe God is personally there for us. I love constantly talking with God. I feel he personally is with us and answers us in his own way. I fi nd myself asking him for wisdom when I have to help someone with issues. I see his beauty as I go about my day and thank him. In tough times I have a quick phrase that I sing as a prayer, â€Å"I need you now†. Once I was driving and I was listening to Christian music and just enjoying feeling close to him. I said something to him in my head. All of a sudden, I heard a very funny response in a clear voice next to me. I had to turn and make sure there wasn’t anyone there. I know God has a sense of humor. I have felt God bring comfort to me during difficult situations. When I have to write papers for school, I feel anxious and pray for clarity and guidance. I know that God is personally there for me. I feel that having a strong and true belief in God will reflect on to my clients to give them a comfort when working with me. God will be in every one of my sessions to help guide me and show me what the client’s issues are and to help me pick up the nonv erbal communications that they are exhibiting. I know that God will work through me and my clients Philippians 4:131. I believe God is our great Creator. The gorgeous colors on the trees, rainbows, northern lights, and the

Madonna Enthroned painting Essay Example For Students

Madonna Enthroned painting Essay Found the Giotta, Madonna Enthroned painting to be the most interesting because the power and love the painting displays. The personal values in this particular painting, such as the colors caught my eye because; the colors in this painting are almost bronzed. To me bronzed shows heroism. A very rich colored painting with the golden brown colors mixed with some blues and deeper browns, and just a touch of red gives this particular painting character. It also shows how old this painting is. Another way color works in this painting is the dark, bold, black gown that is being worn on Madonna stands out and shows power as a mother. The child on her lap in this painting has a bold face stare just as the mom does. Showing how serious and disciplined it was in those times between mother and child. The prophets in the painting are surrounding the mother and child and looking up at the two prophets holding crowns. They seem to almost be looking up in prayer. There are two angels kneeling at the bottom of the throne. The angels show how holy and sacred the mother and child are together. The angels are protecting and watching over. I see equality in this painting and I also see prestige and honor. The subject matter or furnishings of this painting by Giotto, Madonna Enthroned, is here, rather than hereafter. Showing prayer and authority with the crowns and the baby on their lap, these particular paintings subject matter is one of holy and sacred closeness. The content or meaning created by the relationship between form and subject matter is clearly Christian. Religious feeling is not as strong in this one painting, as it is in two others in the book, by Cimabue and Coppo. It is almost as though the mother in the painting, Madonna, shows independence by the look on her face and the stare in her eyes, so the sacred angels and prophets will no longer be in control. The human values this painting represents are the bond between mother and child. The value of a bond and the love shared among those around them. These values relate to my personal values because I can relate to the bond between two loved ones. The values of the current time period from them till now are not much different between Christian moms and children. The practice of religion and prayer are two similar aspects in todays society. The second painting I chose, is the painting created by, Francisco Goya, The Prado, Madrid. I found this painting to be the least interesting or appealing to me. I was not able to relate much to this painting because of the time in when it took place. The wars and executions show survival, yes. But, also fighting and hatred and that is not anything that I can relate to. The personal values such as color in the painting were very dark and drab. Showing darkness in the painting could refer to how the men being executed may have felt. The deep grays and black colors are in this painting and what looks like blood underneath bodies is red. The flickering lantern shines bright on the men to be executed. The interpretation of the people in this painting is that of prisoners and soldiers. The men about to be executed seem to be on their knees with arms in the air, just kneeling there hopeless, and powerless probably frightened to death. Some men are burying their faces because they do not want to see what is coming. The subject matter of Goyas painting is simply one word, execution or death. The men that are going to be executed have nowhere to go, the mountain behind them shows us that they are trapped and are for sure going to be executed. .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a , .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .postImageUrl , .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a , .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a:hover , .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a:visited , .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a:active { border:0!important; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a:active , .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u8310e8e0b4f481fbb9f85500c219c24a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Painting of the Sistine Chapel EssayThe content or interpretation of Goyas painting created by the relationship between form and subject matter is a setting of back in wartime. The event that takes place in this specific painting is only shooting and execution, also Terrified prisoners and bold, powerful, soldiers that have executed already and are about to execute more bodies. The human value represented here is very low moral values. Although back in war times and executions this is an example of, gore and terrified human beings with nowhere to run or go. These values relate to my own personal values with no common interests at all. This painting of Goyas represents death, hatred, war and survival. My personal values are brighter and are much more established. The values of the current time period cant be related only because we are not in a time of war and execution. Some states carry out execution by means of the death penalty but not even that is as morbid and gory as this painting. In concluding my two paintings I selected. I feel there is no comparison at all between the two. The first painting of Madonna represents piece and stability. Goyas painting represents only that of fear and death.

Longer Lonely Essays - Lakota People, , Term Papers

No Longer Lonely The sun shone and the children gleefully played as the lonely man in the worn blue sweater sat feeding the birds. He sat there every day, just feeding the birds and watching the children have their fun. As I ran around the paths in the park, I could see him sitting there, always alone. I slowly jogged around the path and as I rounded the sharp corner, I looked for the man who usually sat on the old bench in the far corner of the park. I could see him sitting there, one ankle, clothed in a shocking white athletic sock, crossed over his knee. He wore the same thing every day, the clothes looked like they had seen better days. His muddy brown pants were threadbare and looked like they belonged to a giant. To hold them up he had to use suspenders, on this bright morning he had chosen a crimson red pair. Covering his stooped shoulders was a worn blue sweater, the color made me think of cornflowers. Navy and dirty white canvas sneakers adorned his feet. His white sock could be seen through a gaping hole in the sole. These shoes had taken him to many different places. They were like an old friend that he couldn't say goodbye to. On this particular day the sun was shining down, warming the earth and lake, so many children played on the wooden swing set. From where I stood on the path, I could hear their cheerful shouts, but could not see them. What I could see was the old man's face. He had strong features: a broad nose, deep-set eyes, and pronounced cheekbones. They had all sunken into a deep sea of wrinkles over the years. You could tell that he had once been a handsome young man. He was of an average height, but appeared taller as he sat with a ramrod straight back. His eyes were an aquatic blue color, like the water off of the coast of Puerto Rico. His hair was receding and had turned a pure white instead of burnished silver. He appeared to be a distinguished gentleman. He watched the children swing and slide on the rickety swing set. From where I stood there appeared to be a look of nostalgia on his face. I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about. Was it a memory of his own childhood? Whatever the memory was, it made him appear to be missing something. While he sat looking at the children, he reached beside him and pulled out a brown lunch bag, spotted with grease marks. Slowly, with liver spotted hands, he reached into the bag. The act of curling his fingers around something inside made him wince in pain. I could imagine the pain that his body was wracked with, thanks to arthritis. I wanted to run up and help him, but the look of determination on his face stopped me from approaching him. Carefully extracting his hand, he pulled out a handful of birdseed and bread crumbs. With a wide sweep of his arm, he spread the mixture all over the ground. He repeated this act several times, until a few gray pigeons came to feast. With a small smile on his face, he watched the birds eat their meal. It was the happiest I had ever seen him. Slowly, so as not to disturb the birds, I approached the balding man. Sitting down next to him I introduced myself. Nodding his head, he mentioned that he often saw me running. Spreading birdseed from the mixture he offered me, I felt relaxed. Smelling the warm earth and listening to the children's cries mixed with the sounds of nature was wonderful. I could feel the tension easing out of me. As I sat next to him I observed his facial expressions. He appeared to be oddly at peace. Curious about what he was thinking to appear so content, I asked him what he was thinking. His response surprised me, something that rarely happens. He told me that he was no longer lonely; he now had me. A lonely old man in the park taught me an important lesson. Sometimes the greatest things are overlooked. I only saw him as a lonely old man missing something from his life. Then I sat down next to him. Next time, instead of observing, maybe I'll sit with him again. Sometimes, sitting next to someone and keeping them company, is all the happiness they will

Mazda Advertising Strategy Essay Example

Mazda Advertising Strategy Essay Example Mazda Advertising Strategy Essay Mazda Advertising Strategy Essay In. Be Moved. This slogan was seen as more than just an advertising tagging, it was a brand promise. One of the first actions Donor took was to develop a campaign to reposition the Protege s model for 1999. The new advertising strategy for the Protege called for positioning it as a cool and fun-to-drive vehicle for young, independent females. To launch repositioning campaign for the Protege, Donor developed television commercials, and extended the publicity of the car to the Internet with the worlds largest online automotive launch party with banner ads on different web sites. Travelers could enter a weepiest to win a new Protege and play trivia games supplied by the game show site uproar. Mazda also mailed a CD-ROOM with music, movie reviews and interviews to people who requested more information while visiting the Protege web site. The MIMIC program was extended to dealer showrooms by developing point-of-purchase cubes that used the same imagery and tonality as the television and print messages. The MIMIC program was extremely successful in repositioning the Protege and attracting young buyers. In 2001, the Zoom-Zoom message was showed in all models and new commercials were developed, like the V/here is it written that only a ports car can behave like a sports car? Related to the Protege. In 2002, Mazda introduced the EMPHASIZED Protege, this model would attract more male buyers. According to Mammas vice president of product strategy and development, this models (EMPHASIZED) are the ultimate expression of Mazda performance, and that the car takes factory-tuned sport- compact performance to the extreme. The MAZDA was the most critical new product launched by the brand in 2003; this car would attract consumers in the mid-ass with an active lifestyle. The advertising strategy used for the MAZDA was similar to the Protege. The ads still used the Zoom-zoom strategy but with a more confident feel. The promotional strategy used to the MAZDA used integrated communication program, print advertising, ads present on magazines and newspapers. Mazda also signed a marketing deal with ESP. to advertise on the MAZDA in different media like the SPENT, radio, internet, and restaurants. The MIMIC program for the MAZDA also includes an extensive publicity campaign, direct mail, and the use of interactive media such as online advertising, CD-Rooms, and a mini-web site on www. Mazda. Com. The MIMIC were very important to highlight the feathers of both cars and to attract consumers, and so, get a higher profit for the brand. Nowadays, Internet, magazines, and TV are extremely important to attract consumers showing the products through commercials and ads. If we open a magazine, we II find different types of ads for cars, because people actually read magazines frequently, turn on the TV every day and use the Internet almost all day. 2. Evaluate Mammas decision to drop the Get In. Be Moved tagging for the Protege and adopt the Zoom-zoom theme for its advertising. I think was very important to change the tagging for the Protege, dropping the Get In. Be Moved and adopting the Zoom-zoom theme. Time passes, consumers change their opinions and their tastes, and it s really important for the brands to innovate, change, make something different, because that s what consumers look for. This new theme would appeal for adult consumers with desires to drive fun cars. With the tagging Zoom-Zoom, Mazda started to add music and other effects in their commercials. I find curious the fact that the brand din t just change the tagging, in 2002, there was still commercials with both tastiness; only later, the Get In. Be Moved was dropped. I think the Zoom-zoom is a simple but powerful tagging, the Get In. Be Moved was a really good tagging, but too explicit, the new tagging is recent, modern. And the Zoom-Zoom tagging was everything Mazda was looking for to create a DNA of the brand, presented in ads and commercials. 3. Evaluate the strategy Mazda is using to advertise the new MAZDA sports sedan. Do you agree with the decision to use a more mature and less playful approach for the MAZDA? Agree with the decision to use a more mature and less playful approach for the MAZDA. The commercials for the new MAZDA are designed to be more grown up, and all this approach is designed to position the car as a refined, Porto alternative to the Toyota Campy, Ionians Ultimate, and Honda Accord. The new MAZDA was not a playful car designed for young adults who wanted to drive fun-cars, it was a serious car, elegant design for mature people, and also to compete with other cars listed above. The young boy that appeared in the protoggs commercials was removed but the Zoom-zoom tagging was kept, because that s the true essence of the car brand. 4. What recommendations would you make to Mazda regarding its integrated marketing com inactions strategy as the company moves forward? In my opinion, its crucial for car brands to be innovative, different, with new theaters in their cars, and with appellative commercials and ads. Basically, the innovation needs to be constant because that s what consumers want, something new, different than the other cars they used before. With the advance of technology and knowledge, brands need to follow that advance, and bring new, beautiful, and innovative products, thats the best way to make profit in 2015.

Comp Set Analysis - Research Paper Example Rodeway Inn SF Civic Center enjoys a strategic location within the city. Furthermore, it offers a number of services that may enhance its competitiveness. However, the other five are equally competitive and may, therefore, threaten the hotels profitability and longevity. Crowne Plaza, for example, is a luxury hotel strategically located in the airport; the hotel poses a significant threat to Rodeway Inn SF Civic since it offers immense convenience to visitors. Additionally, Rodeway Inn SF Civic does not have conference facilities. The industry has shifted with most modern day hotels striving to attract visitors who come to the city for seminars and conferences. The lack of ballrooms and workshop facilities denies the hotel a major competitive advantage thereby making it vulnerable to the numerous competitors who are setting up shop in strategic locations within the city and continues to target the same target
